Grand slam for Evotec

February 16, 2024

The trawlers will be constructed by Karstensens Skibsværft A/S and are scheduled for delivery in 2026. The new vessels are 44.10m combined fresh fish and freezer trawlers that can operate as pair trawlers or with double trawl individually.

The replacement of the pair trawler fleet in the Faroe Islands has been discussed for several years, and with these contracts, Faroe Origin sets the standard for the future! Which has a strong focus on sustainable fishing with minimal CO2 emissions per kg caught.

The delivery from Evotec includes all winches for trawling and mooring. The delivery includes, among other things, Evotec MultiSoft Trawl™, which contributes dynamic performance. The projects are developed in close cooperation with Karstensens Skibsværft A/S.

"Our compact and robust solutions with low weight contribute positively to these trawlers which are relatively small with a lot of equipment. It's not taken for granted that the shipping company has prioritized investing in electric winches to reduce the climate footprint during the operation phase. After a long and thorough process with tough international competition, we managed to meet the customer's expectations. We have 'Finnur Fridi' and 'Høgaberg' under delivery, and in a short time, we have captured a solid position in the Faroese market," says Håkon Woldsund, sales manager at Evotec.

"Evotec's commitment to sustainable technology and efficient handling solutions for the fishing fleet has yielded good results. The company has quickly established itself as a market leader in the global market and has big ambitions moving forward," says Jogeir Romestrand, CEO of Evotec.
